I wanted to post something since we haven't done so in a long time. However, I haven't read any books lately (hold on to that, I'll explain more in a minute) so I had no idea what to post about. I came to the conclusion to post about why I haven't posted and that led me to "Bookish Problems". Along with book reviews and book talks, we'll now be discussing problems that most, if not all, bookish people suffer with. Now, the reason I haven't been posting will be our first bookish problem: school.
Most YA readers are in school and those who are know that projects, tests, and homework can and will get in the way of our reading schedules. Well, recently both Esther and I have had tons of tests and projects and as you probably have already guessed, all that work has taken up all our reading time.
In all honesty, schools contradict themselves a lot. Almost all schools promote all sorts of different activities, yet they are the reason why we can't participate in them. Take reading as an example. In elementary school reading was strongly stressed, but in secondary school they decide to suddenly throw our reading time out the window along with our nap time. If schools really cared about reading (and sleeping for that matter) then why do they not allow us any time to do so.
The struggle I face is indescribable. When you don't have time to read, you fall into a reading slump. I hate reading slumps...but we can talk about that another time.
Sorry this has been so short, I hope it didn't come across as a rant. I'm sure any student completely agrees that school gets in the way of things more often than it should.
