After the amazing and capturing Selection trilogy, I knew that I HAD to read these two books written when America is a mother (the queen). The book is focused on America and Maxon's daughter, Eadlyn, who is taking on the responsibility of having a Selection of eligible boys to marry her. She, at first, was NOT anticipating tons of boys around the castle. But once she gets to know them for who they really are, she questions whether she is actually falling in love.
The first book, The Heir, I really liked. I eagerly waited months for The Crown. I admit, when I read the first of the two I was shipping Kyle and Eadlyn. But like pretty much every other book, the author crushed my dreams....oops.....sorry to spoil. But when I read The Crown I felt like it was a little bit too rushed. The love seemed a little too fast to be real. Who she ended up with surprised me a lot....she barely showed any signs of affections towards him before she chose him. I think that when you try to re-create things that already exist, they never turn out as well as the original. These two books were meant to carry on the Selection trilogy, but I didn't have the same excitement when I read these.
From a scale of 1-5, I'd rate this book a 3.5. I did like it, but I'm not too crazy about it. But I definitely suggest reading The Selection trilogy, because I would give that 5 stars!!!!!
Soon we'll be posting a Tell Me Three Things book review, so I would totally check that out if I were you!!!!
