For all those that have not read this book, go READ IT. Okay, you can wait a minute and hear what I think about it first if you want....
Haha anyways, I think you can already tell that I loved this book. It follows two very different people: Daniel, a Korean boy pressured to be a doctor by his parents, and Natasha, a Jamaican girl fighting against being deported with her family back to Jamaica. These two people cross paths and a very sweet but untraditional love story plays out. This book deals with the notions of "love at first sight" and "fate", and it argues both sides throughout the story while highlighting how the consequences of each action can have such significant consequences. I love the way that the author, Nicola Yoon, incorporated so many different points of view throughout the story. Of course you have the points of view of the two main characters, but you also have others along the way that I think is best kept a secret if you have not yet read the book.
If you're not convinced yet, take a leap of faith and try reading it anyways. Trust me, it's gonna be a great book to end off your year with. I give it a whole 5 out of 5 stars!!!!!

If you're still reading I'm assuming that you already have read the book (that means BEWARE OF SPOILERS).
Yes, I may have squeled while reading this book, but how could you not? The author cultivates this beautiful romance (some people complain about the insta-love but that's kinda the whole point of the story) that just touches your heart. You begin to lose control of your emotions; if the couple is together and happy, you're happy, but if they're fighting....you are so not happy.
I mentioned this earlier (in the non-spoiler part), but I loved the random points of view. The author takes you deeper into the story and you find yourself growing so attached to what are essentially stragners that the main characters barely interact with. One that I can't really stop thinking about is Irene. She was about to KILL herself. That is a big deal. One phone call brought her an endless amount of happiness. I hope this taught some people that all you have to do is reach out a little to help someone. It could be as simple as a phone call.
On the topic of Irene, the ending is what got to me the most. It bothered me so much that a stupid attorney's mistake made Natasha go away. And it hurt more to read about how Daniel and Natasha grew apart, but I guess that's natural and it would be very unrealistic for the author to write it otherwise. However, we get one last glimpse of fate when they find each other years later on the same exact airplane. I like to think that they fell back in love instantly, got married, and had plenty of Korean-Jamiacan-American kids, but the end is what you make it.
I really hope y'all enjoyed the book as well! Leave a comment and let me know what are your thoughts on the book!
