When Calls the Heart is a book about the journey of a young lady, Elizabeth Thatcher, traveling to the Canadian frontier to become a teacher. Her family fears she won't be capable to survive the hardships that come her way, so they send a mounty out to keep an eye on her. (As you may have suspected...) They fall in love.
The romance in this book is very cute ...but makes you angry at times. but from the very beginning the plot of the story was crystal clear; there was no plot twist or any surprises. It was written with very simple, straight-forward sentences. (Some people like it some don't....basically the question is "do you like how Ernest Hemingway writes?")
The book is written in first person and you can see how complex Elizabeth's emotions are through her thought process in the story.
If I could describe this book in two words it would be Sweet and Simple.
Oh and just to let you know, we are NOT even going to bring up the differences between the TV show and the book because they are NOT the same thing. Sometimes the movies mess up everything the books establish and please don't get me started on that!!!!!! :)
On a scale from 1-5, I would give this book a.....probably a four. I really enjoyed the cute relationship but at the same time disliked the flat writing. Comment below what you thought of the book, I would love to hear about it!!! ;)
